the love of a mother.

I'd like to introduce you to my very first maternity session! ;)

And to my mother (who was rocking a classic 80s hairstyle then and is probably grateful now for my clumsy framing. I'd like to think that similar to fashion trends, I've since improved)

When I took this picture, I was three years old and days away from meeting my new little brother.

Back then, my mother was everything. There was no problem she couldn't fix, no question she didn't know the answer to and no limit to her love.

Twenty some years later, little has changed.

Happy Mother's Day, to the mom who bought me pretty dresses and taught me how to act like a lady.. and watched me climb trees, build forts and track mud into the house more times than I can count..

Who taught me to appreciate the closeness of family... but to not be afraid to leave the nest in search of bigger adventures.

Who introduced me to manicures and perms (don't judge, it was the 90s) and cleaned out the Clinique counter when I was old enough to wear makeup, all while showing me with her actions that true beauty comes from who you are and how you treat others.

To the mother who instilled in me a love of God, hatred of incorrect grammar and deep penchant for sarcasm and dry humor.. to the woman who tirelessly encouraged me to be myself and stay true to who I was, I couldn't be more grateful. Because the more I discover who I am, the more I see you.

Happy Mother's Day, to my mom and ALL mothers out there. You are loved and appreciated.

And for the record Mom, you made the 80s look fabulous ;)
